Akwasi Osei

Henry Highland Garnet was an abolitionist, minister, educator, and speaker who escaped slavery and became a fierce proponent of militant abolitionism. His radicalism led him not only to advocate a ‘back to Africa’ tendency, but to emigrate himself. He died in Liberia on this day in 1882.



 



The National Negro League, which was the African American Professional and semi Professional Baseball league, was organized by Rube Foster on this day in 1920.
