Robert Clifton Weaver was born this day in 1907 in Washington, DC. He was an economist, academic and politician who shattered the glass ceiling of cabinet appointees. He was the first Black person to be appointed to the cabinet when President Johnson tapped him as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in 1966
