pleasing to the ears
pleasant to the eyes
sweet to the taste
sensuous to the touch
life-giving to inhale
sacred to the inner self
connected to its surroundings
relevant when it goes back and relevant when it looks forward:
It is the arts in that land of humanity’s birth, at once humble and proud, humorous and serious, compassionate and cruel, merciful and merciless, vibrant and vulnerable, accepting and aloof. Above all, dogged with an indomitable will to survive all manners of trials and tribulations to triumph, nourish and nurture itself and others the world over. The African Arts genius begat humanity, has sustained it, and will mother it for all millennia.
