H ‘Rap’ Brown, born Hubert Gerold Brown, also known as Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin, was born on this day in 1943. He was a leader of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and the Black Panther Party. He is currently incarcerated as a result of charges stemming from a shootout with the police.
