Ella Josephine Baker
Ella Josephine Baker was born on this day in 1903 in Virginia; she went on to become one of the most influential movers of the Civil Rights Movements. She ran the NAACP New York office from 1938 to 1953; the Southern Christian Leadership Conference from 1957 to 1960; and helped shepherd the Student Non-Violent Coordination Committee (SNCC).
